  40. Hey guyz, great staff am still waitin' on your fact finding mission to the Zambian High commision in the UK on that passport issue....Am now officially 6 months in waiting and still counting. That suggestion by Snypa was very good to have a separate section for Zambians living abroad passport applicants as in my view mixing them just causes a back log. Imagin the population of Zambia then you and on that of Zambian's living overseas, someone need to do there home work...

See you guy at the 45 IND celebrations, with all sorts of people including zambian women dating or married to Jamiacans or Nigerians. My broda we de tok letter

  42. CRY MY BELOVED ZAMBIA

There is a very valid concern amongst the patriotic citizens

about our country’s future. Whilst it is indisputable that Zambia’s present quandary can be assessed from virtually any angle, the supreme issue and general agreement is that we have an inadequate political leadership influencing the nations’ direction. And when I refer to the country’s inadequate leadership, I do not specifically refer to the government of the day, but address the entire current political leadership, both in the opposition and government. In the limited space our wonderful site “LT” affords us, allow me to make my case dubbed “Cry my beloved Zambia ”.

Allow me to comment on both the government of the day, as well as our opposition. It seems to me that to make it as a “politician” working in the government of the day in Zambia, one has to exhibit high levels of ignorance, intolerance, and worst of all little appreciation of what the majority of our citizenry is going through on a daily basis. These traits allow one to live in a world of oblivion, where one believes that our government is working at optimum, and leaves little room for one to realize that Zambia is fast going backwards. It is a sure and proven fact that the moment a government political leader has his or her personal moment of truth and/or clarity, it is inevitable that the “wrongs” of government will overshadow any imaginary “good” of our government. And should our enlightened “government politician” point out these wrongs, he or she is immediately perceived to be an enemy of the MMD, and [even more absurd] an enemy of the state. George Mpombo anyone? Thus we find the nonsensical but true rule that there is no room for “enlightened” leaders in government.

Then we have the current opposition leadership. Zambia currently has what we may term as an “imaginary” opposition leadership. First of all, an ideal opposition is supposed to look and act like a government in waiting, and our current opposition looks more like a circus in waiting.

Our opposition, by simple virtue of not being in the present government’s world of oblivion does in fact live in reality. But for a reason which is certainly not lost on me and many other Zambians, our opposition leadership has failed to translate this state of reality to sensible and productive politics. And all things considered, the reason is pretty simple. Our opposition leadership is entirely made up people of like-mindedness with the current government leaders. Our opposition is in fact either students or architects of the current hopeless political landscape.

From Ludwig Sondashi wanting his family to also “enjoy” State House, to the young Henry Sialupwa not happy that RB is “not sharing the cake” after lending support to the MMD, to Mr. Michael Sata who prays that Zambians are suddenly afflicted with amnesia. Go figure why I do not mention HH….I digress. My point is our opposition fails to “oppose” and provide alternatives chiefly because they are not a genuine opposition.

The current opposition was chiefly borne of personal ambitions which were not fulfilled within the ruling government of the day, and not out of a genuineness to provide alternative governance. Thus it remains difficult for us to even believe that a true change can be provided by the current opposition. The Zambian political scene finds itself in quite a bundle!

  43. big up this is funny you guyz get joker hehehe who is chinodes crew? loool keep up the good work ... this is real entertaiment to all zambians .......

  44. Realistically speaking Zambia will never ever develop or advance in any way, not as long as we have retards politician like bwezani govt banda, common crooks govt chiluba or family Govt kaunda. Gone are the days when Zambia had a spoon of copper in the mouth, we have to finance our own development not depending on the disease called donor syndrome, ABOLISH DONOR AID to see what these politician can do not just opening their mouth. The president has found ka charger (wakumbali), in Swaziland that's why we are exhibiting our staff in a poor country. Educated Zambians have left the country coz a lot of uneducated politicians wants to be worshiped. Just imagine the Zambian high commission in London are waiting for donor aid to buy a new flag.

  45. I've really enjoyed this edition of the show, its brought out real issues. keep it up guys.

I recently went to the Zambian High Commission in London to collect my passporta after a long 5months of waiting.

I'm not a fan of criticism without offering options to solving the

problem. I must, therefore, hasten to commend you guys [the Basement crew] becuase unlike most people we hear on different media (radio, tv, online etc), you are actually criticising and offering options to solve the issues at hand so Well done on that [round of applause please].

My visit to the High commission was a brief one. I just want to highlight some of my observations (or

positive criticism as I'd like to call it).

    1. We need a new flag at the entrance and it should hang properly - someone's got to check it atleast once a week to make sure its hanging ok, i could barely recognise it. even if its not new, atleast let is Hang and fly in diginity and sovereignity. All I saw was a green cloth, no eagle no colored stripes. Our flag looked like a Green triangular cloth hanging from a pole, and no one seems to care coz it was like that on the 2 different occasions I went there.

    2. The checking of whether a passport is ready or not should not be done manually. Currently it is checked manually from a very long list of names by the person at the reception desk. If the person checking is having a BAD day, no one can blame them if they find it hard to spot a name or simply tell you its not ready when infact it is there. A simple machine called a Computer at the reception desk would help. [I saw an opportunity for some IT work in making the whole system to be computer based, DJ Snyper raise this issue if you do speak anyone]. The JOB can be done for less than they think. This would in effect make their lives easier and much more efficient at their JOB and greatly reducing the margine for error.

    3. The opening times on the entrance door say open from 09:30am - 1:00pm Mon - Fri (i think). But the times from their official website say opening times from 10:00am - 1:00pm Mon - Fri [http://zhcl.org.uk/index.php?Itemid=32&id=15&option=com_content&task=view]. And the website by the way serious needs updating, the last update was on 12 January 2009. If you think about how long they are open, it thats only 4hours of a normal working day, what do they do for the rest of the afternoon? sounds like a daft question but I'd be very glad to know what it is they do.

    4. Collecting passports or visas that are ready should not take long at all, so I think a separate collection desk or office would speed things up a little bit.

Overall my experience was okay, the staff were very helpfull and friendly and I speak for myself because I know others have a very different opinion. I think the current 'manual' system is letting the staff down and making them look incompetent when infact they can do a brilliant.

Big up to the Basement Crew - One Zambia, One Nation!

  46. You r even better off in UK. with us here (usa) the Embassy is failing to even send the application forms. One thing they are forgettig is that we work day and night contributing positively to the economy of the country (zambia) by what ever projects we are doing there. When are they going to change

  47. I so agree with you pipo the passport issues is jus ridiculous been waiting for mine for ages i've jus given up now. its easier for me to get a visa to zambia on my british passport than to get a zambian passport.

P.S bout them pipo saying stuff yh my advise to the bassement crew is just forget bout it. pipo will always hate and i guess thats all it is. if pipo genuinely want to criticise they wud say it in yo face no doubt so peepz is jus macking about.

p.s synpa...we still need to catch up soon

    take care lads

  48. i love the closing music its very nice ati zambian women very beautiful of course know lol as ba mc jc Chinode would say sweetness sue chintu. who sang the song please if you dont mind telling me

  56. Nice show keep it up. The musice is fine timely. Please start talking up Zambia we are going to 45 this year whats up.

Still tell the people what the need to be said

  57. Hey Guyz, Finally a mouth piece for Zambian's overseas! I've been in the UK for a while and It's about time trueth be told especially with these events we have, the so called promoters plus these beauty peagent where even when i go zed, i've never known or seen any on going project/s to praise the significance of having a Miss something UK, We might as well have a Rupiah Band UK. This is Big Brother, Basement crew tell it as it is, I think thats the only way we can up-grade this grey market as Snypa put it...

  58. Totally love your show and website. The Zambian music really "brings it home" and I am pleased to listen to it. I have been recommending you on twitter via our twitter/zambiadiaspora following and I hope you also come on board!

  59. I am loving the show keep it real. And tell it like it is.

    But Mulimashilu for real.

Take it from m the show works well its witty, its funny and its informative.

    Mr S. (aka Mr Nawa)

  60. Great show guys! i think its about time someone opened there mouth especially on these Zambia beauty pagents in the UK as a whole. My close friend took part in Miss. Zambia UK and yes was crowned 1st Princes that was i think 2006/7 but all she got was invitations to events but never really got that chance to perform her duties even recieve her prize as advertised. To Andella as much az turn of events have all gone wrong, i do agree with the Guys on the show, How Did You Pull Out Votes from no where to beat that leading contestant in Zambia? Iz there something people we all missing out?

  61. this is my advice to all models out ,

Should you have to pay upfront fees?

NO Any good modeling agencies will never, ever, ask you for payment or any fees , speaking of paying for your own ticket to zambia iliko bad boyi ,

professional organizers should look for girls who can representing our counrty zambia in a good way ...

this is the same thing that happend Andella , ba wendy made a fake promise to her ati buy your ticket i will pay you when you get back thats sad ,,,

andella was in zambia she didn,t get her money back right but why did she go back ? when she was ordered to return to Zambia to finalise her duties. Once again she had to use her own money iye .anyway i guess she had trust in ba wendy the woman she is wicked ,,,, 3000 pound its a alot of cash but i dnt no if they is anything they can do about it , am sorry to andella and her famliy i hope that things works out for them ,
